Counsel That Works the Way
Inheritance Matters Should
Estate planning and inheritance work requires more than a standard legal form. It requires someone who will read the situation carefully and put the right arrangements in place.

What You Receive When You Engage Us
Specialist Focus on Inheritance Law
Estate planning, probate, and trust law is what we do — not a line item in a general practice. Eighteen years of sustained focus on this area of Malaysian law.
Documents Drafted for You Specifically
Wills, trust deeds, and estate plans are written from your circumstances outward — not filled in on a standard template and issued within the day.
Cross-Border Coordination
We coordinate with foreign counsel in Singapore, Australia, the UK, and Hong Kong on estates with international assets — keeping Malaysian executors informed throughout.
Fixed Fees, Stated in Advance
Clients know the full fee before engagement begins. No hourly billing on estate plan drafting or trust establishment — no uncertainty as a matter progresses.
Written Summaries After Every Meeting
What was discussed and what was decided is put in writing after each consultation — so nothing rests only in memory and clients can review at their own pace.
Patient Revision Process
Drafts are provided in stages. Revisions are accommodated without additional charge until the client is satisfied — signing is never scheduled before that point is reached.

Depth of Experience in Estate Law
Pusaka Counsel was formed specifically to handle inheritance and estate matters — not as one practice area among many, but as the entirety of what we do. This sustained focus means clients are not explaining the basics of will execution or trust registration to us; that ground was covered long before their matter arrived.
Our principal, Ahmad Kamal Ismail, has been in practice for eighteen years with an exclusive focus on estate planning, probate administration, and trust law. The associate team has been selected with the same focus in mind. When a client arrives with a complex matter — a large estate, multiple beneficiaries in different jurisdictions, or assets requiring cross-border coordination — that depth is available from the first meeting.

A Process That Keeps Clients Informed
Every engagement follows a structured process: initial consultation to understand the client's circumstances, a clear summary of what is recommended and why, staged drafting with written updates at each stage, and a final review before signing. Nothing moves to the next stage without the client's written confirmation that they are satisfied.
- Initial consultation and situation review
- Written recommendation and fee confirmation
- Staged drafting with client review at each step
- Revision rounds accommodated without additional charge
- Final review and signing once client confirms satisfaction

One Point of Contact Throughout
Clients are not passed between departments or handed to a junior associate after the initial meeting. The lawyer who takes the initial consultation is the lawyer who handles the matter from start to completion. For executors and beneficiaries involved in probate matters, this means a consistent point of contact who knows the file without needing to be updated each time.

Transparent Pricing Without Hourly Billing
Estate planning services at Pusaka Counsel are priced on a fixed basis. Comprehensive Estate Plan Drafting starts from RM 4,500; Probate Administration with Foreign Assets from RM 3,800; Trust Establishment for Family Continuity from RM 2,500. These figures are shared before any engagement begins. Clients who ask for revisions or additional meetings within the scope of the engagement are not billed separately for them.

Arrangements That Hold When They Are Needed
The purpose of an estate plan is to be relied upon, often years after it was prepared and at a time when the client is no longer able to clarify their intentions. Documents prepared by Pusaka Counsel are drafted to be legally sound and practically clear. Executors and trustees who come to carry out the client's arrangements should find instructions they can follow without ambiguity.

PC · Distinct Qualities
What Cannot Be Replicated Quickly
Multi-Framework Estate Knowledge
Fluency in both the civil law estate administration framework and the specific considerations applicable to Muslim clients — faraid, wasiat, hibah — developed over eighteen years of practice, not assembled in a weekend.
Established Relationships with Foreign Counsel
Coordinating a cross-border probate matter requires trust in the foreign correspondent as much as technical knowledge. Pusaka Counsel's working relationships with overseas law firms have been built through shared cases, not referral directories.
A Practice That Operates at Appropriate Pace
Estate planning and inheritance matters carry weight. A practice that treats these matters as transactions to be completed quickly is not the right environment for work that will need to hold for years or decades.
Plain Explanation of Complex Arrangements
Clients leave each meeting understanding what has been prepared and why. This is not standard in legal practice, where complexity is sometimes retained rather than translated. At Pusaka Counsel, clarity is part of the service.
